Ayurvedic Supportive Care During Cancer Treatment

How Ayurveda can gently support comfort, strength and quality of life alongside your cancer treatment โ€” as complementary, doctor-led care, working with your oncology team, never in place of it.

Please read this first. Ayurveda is supportive care, not a cure for cancer. It does not replace surgery, chemotherapy, radiation, immunotherapy or your oncologist's advice. Never stop, delay or change your cancer treatment to try any alternative. Everything below is about helping you feel stronger and more comfortable while you undergo that treatment โ€” and only with your oncology team's knowledge.

A cancer diagnosis affects the whole person โ€” body, appetite, energy, sleep and spirit โ€” not just the illness itself. Modern oncology treats the disease; supportive care looks after the person going through it. Used correctly, Ayurveda can be a gentle, complementary part of that supportive care: aimed at comfort, nourishment and wellbeing, always coordinated with the doctors leading your treatment.

What "supportive care" means in cancer

Supportive (or integrative) care is anything that helps you cope better with cancer and its treatment โ€” managing side-effects, keeping up strength, easing stress โ€” without replacing the treatment itself. It is care built around you, not a second therapy competing with your chemotherapy or radiation.

Done responsibly, Ayurvedic supportive care follows three simple rules: it works alongside your oncologist, it is personalised and supervised, and it makes no claim to cure. Anyone who tells you otherwise is not practising honest medicine.

How Ayurveda may support you during treatment

The focus is comfort and quality of life. Under a physician's supervision, and in coordination with your oncology team, Ayurvedic supportive care may help with common challenges of treatment. Results vary from person to person, and nothing here is guaranteed:

A note on Panchakarma: intensive detox procedures are not routinely appropriate during active cancer treatment. Any therapy is chosen conservatively, gently and only when your oncology team agrees it is safe โ€” never as a "cleanse" to fight the cancer.

Safety first: why your oncology team must be involved

This is the part that matters most. Some herbs and supplements can interact with chemotherapy or radiation, affect the liver or kidneys, or change how treatment works. That is exactly why supportive care must be supervised and coordinated โ€” not bought over a counter or off the internet.

What we do not claim

Honesty is part of good care, so we say this plainly:

Frequently asked questions

Can Ayurveda cure cancer?
No. Cancer must be treated by your oncology team with proven treatments such as surgery, chemotherapy, radiation or immunotherapy. Ayurveda's role here is supportive care only โ€” helping with comfort, side-effects and quality of life. Please be cautious of anyone claiming an Ayurvedic "cure" for cancer.
Do I have to stop my chemotherapy or radiation to try Ayurveda?
Absolutely not. Supportive care runs alongside your treatment, never instead of it. We will never ask you to stop or delay your oncologist's plan.
Can I take Ayurvedic medicines during cancer treatment?
Only with your oncologist's knowledge and a qualified Ayurvedic physician coordinating your care. Some herbs can interact with chemotherapy or radiation, so choice and timing must be checked. Never self-prescribe herbs or supplements during treatment.
Will Ayurveda interfere with my treatment?
Properly supervised and coordinated supportive care is designed not to interfere โ€” which is exactly why it should be done by a physician who reviews it against your treatment, and never bought unsupervised.
Can it help with side-effects and quality of life?
That is its purpose โ€” to support comfort, appetite, strength, sleep and wellbeing during a hard time. It cannot promise specific outcomes, and results vary from person to person.
Do you offer home care or palliative support?
Yes โ€” OPD, IPD and home-care supportive care in selected cases, in coordination with your oncology team. Call +91-86556 38135 or message us on WhatsApp and we'll guide you.
